On July 8th. 2018, the National Commission for Nuclear Safety and Safeguards was informed that an industrial radiography device was stolen, with an Ir-192 radioactive source inside.
The event occurred on July 6th. 2018, aproximately at 15:00 hours (EST), in Mexico City, when an employee of a licensee company was working on site, and for a while lost visual contact with the source, which was placed at the rear bumper of the transportation vehicle. It was at that time that the source was stolen.
The radioactive source was finally recovered on July 16ht. 2018 in safe condition. Investigation of the theft still going on.
