ERF send date: Fri, 19-07-1991
ERF description: On 24.11-90, due to sudden loss of generation in the grid, the system frequency crashed down and caused unit-1 generator lock out on under frequency. GEB/MSEB feeders connected to Tarapur-1 tripped due to fault/disturbance in grid. Station lost off-site power. Unit-1 reactor scrammed due to de-energising the safety system relays. Normal recovery actions were taken.
BASIS FOR RATING: Degradation in defence-in-depth. Table A-1R, 0/1. All safety systems/functions were available. Reactor trip proceeded normally. Rating -0.
