ERF description: At 0220 hours on 20.2.91, 'rod drive DC supply failed'. Alarm was in. Adjuster UE and LW were coming out on auto. CTM installation 1 & 2 high and very high alarms were in. The voltmeter on 63190-PL-2 was reading only 14 V DC. This was due to failure of filter capacitor in the output circuit of rectifier.
BASIS FOR RATING: A-IR. Unit was operating at 170 MW(e). Though the adjuster rods UE and LW were moving out in Auto due to failure of 24 V DC supply, the other two adjuster rods LE and UW in auto were moving in and maintaining the reactor power. The component failure is expected in Reactor Regulating System and no safety significance was involved as the Reactor Protection System was in poised state. Hence level 0 is selected.
