Summary of Financial Year 1993/94 Work less affected by external events. The 1993/94 financial year-SKI's twentieth as an independent regulatory authority- was less affected by unforeseen events than the previous year. Consequently, we were also better able to attain our goals in long-term activities. This can be seen by the fact that the research programme could be carried out at a rate that corresponded to the annual research appropriation. We also made considerable progress in the development of inspection activities in accordance with the policy which was established in the comprehensive budget proposal. Preparations have been made for SKI to move to more functional offices in November 1994. Towards More Focussed Reactor Safety Regulation. The year's goals for work within the reactor safety programme were satisfactorily attained The necessary knowledge of the level of safety and quality in the safety- related work carried out by the licencees was acquired and SKl's responsibility for promoting safety-related work at the nuclear power plants was fulfilled.
