From the publication:

One of the options suggested for disposal of high-level radioactive waste resulting
from the generation of nuclear power is burial beneath the deep ocean floor in
geologically stable sediment formations which have no economic value.

The 8-volume series provides an assessment of the technical feasibility and
radiological safety of this disposal concept based on the results obtained by
en years of co-operation and information exchange among the Member countries
participating in the NEA Seabed Working Group.

This volume provides an overview of the research and a summary of the results.
