From the publication:
INTRODUCTION We owe a debt to the Cambridge Energy Group fan offshoot of Cambridge Friends of the Earth) and Cambridge University Survival, whose original book (printed in 1975) we have up-dated and partly re-written. We have made no pretensions of originality: our main purpose has been to collect and publish information on energy issues. Neither is the book comprehensive, but aims to show the general picture. Published by Cambridge Friends of the Earth. Friends of the Earth Limited (FOE) is an environmental pressure group, funded by voluntary contributions. lt has over 200 local autonomous groups in the UK, and is part of a world-wide federation of similar organisations. FOE is actively pursuing campaigns on the control of packaging, the protection of endangered species, food policy, pollution, energy strategy, materials used, transport and land-use policy. For further information, contact Friends of the Earth Ltd., 9 Poland Street, London W1 V 3DG, or your local group.*) Estimated date
