ABSTRACT
The oxidation and reduction of neptunium have been studied spectrophotometrically
in solutions similar to those from which neptunium might be recovered at Windscale.
It has been shown that the use of hydrazine as a reductant is complicated by the
catalytic effect of iron on the destruction of the reagent. Attempts to recover Np237
from Windscale highly active fission product effluent have been partially successful.
