1) INTRODUCTION

This submission will concentrate on the following main issues, while canvassing 
others. These are:
(a) The market for Australian uranium overseas as it is effected by the current 
state of the nuclear power industry.
(b) The local environmental impact of uranium mining operations, not only in 
Australia, but in overseas countries as these create lessons for Australia.
(c) Regulatory issues within the uranium mining industry in Australia, as they
are affected by (b).
(d) Taxation and royalty issues affecting the uranium mining industry in
Australia, notably the uranium export levy.
(e) The effect of the uranium mining industry in Australia on the Aboriginal 
community.
