Abstracts Nuclear Power as an Energy Supply System Jinzaburo Takagi, Kimiko Shizuri, Satoshi Fujino In this research, we have undertaken basic studies with respect the influence of nuclear power generation on climate and the global environment, since among current energy supply systems nuclear power has become the subject of comparison with fossil fuel-based systems. We have also studied the risks posed by waste heat generation, irradiation, and radioactive waste generation over the entire nuclear power generation cycle, as well as the potential risk of large-scale accidents occurring, and attempted to quantify these risks as far as possible. The objective of these studies is to provide a basis for making comparisons between nuclear power generation and other energy options. Moreover, using the results obtained from these studies, we believe we have shown clearly that nuclear power generation is an inappropriate countermeasure against global warming from an environmental standpoint, and we also discuss more desirable ways of coping with energy problems. 要約 エネルギー供給システムとしての原発の検討 高木仁三郎、志津里公子、藤野聡 この研究では、エネルギ}供給システムのうち、とくに化石燃料との対比において問題となる原子力発電 について、気候・地球環境への影響という視点で基本的な考察を加えると共に、原発のライフサイクルに伴 う廃熱の発生・放射線被曝や放射性廃棄物、潜在的な大事故の危険性について可能な限り数量化して検討し、 他の選択との比較評価の基礎を与えることをめざした。またその検討を踏まえて、環境上の観点から、地球 温暖化対策として原発が不適切であることを明らかにし、望ましいエネルギ}のあり方についても議論した。
