From the publication:
SIMO SOCIÉTÉ INDUSTRIELLE DES MINERAIS DE L’OUEST At the start of the fifties, the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) discovered uranium deposits in France, the amount and grade of which made them economically operable. It was then necessary of course to build processing plants nearby for the uranium ore. The decision was taken to set up a semi-public company involving Kuhlmann (50%), the CEA (10°/o) and the French "Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations" (40%), called the Société Industrielle des Minerais de l'Ouest, in charge of building and operating plants for processing ores recovered from CEA mines.
