Tenth International Meeting of the NEA Coordinated Program to Assess the Subseabed Disposal of Nuclear Waste* Volume I 1. 0 Introduction This document is the report of activities for the preceding year of the participants in the Seabed Working Group (SWG). The participating nations are conducting research to determine the feasibility of disposal of high-level radioactive wastes by burial in stable sediments beneath the deep ocean floor. This is the tenth annual report of the research program, which is coordinated through the SWG under the auspices of the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (NEA/OECD). This introduction describes the objectives and organization of the SWG and gives a brief description of the subseabed burial concept. Summaries of the research arranged by task group follow.
