M/S Sigyn Designed by Sa/en Technologies AB (Saltech) on commission by Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB, SKB (the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company) and built by the French shipyard Société Nouvelle des Ateliers et Chantiers du Havre, M/S Sigyn was delivered in 1982 and now sails under the Swedish flag. She is a combined ro-ro/lo-lo ship specially designed for the transport of radioactive materials. The cargo is normally driven straight into the hold through an aft ramp. It can also be lifted onto the ship using shore-based cranes.
