From the publication:
Dear Friends, It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to our groundbreaking symposium, Nuclear Power and Children's Health. Nuclear Power and Children's Health was planned to educate soccer moms, students, and medical professionals about the dangerous effects of nuclear power on the health of children. We believe that the policy analysts, members of the media, and nuclear abolitionists that will be brought together at the symposium will provide excellent discussion and debate about the role of nuclear power in regards to children's health. It is our sincere hope that you will use this symposium as an opportunity to learn and raise key questions affecting all of our futures. We would also like to take this moment to thank those that have helped make this symposium a success. The board and staff of the Nuclear Policy Research Institute thank the Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS), Physicians for Social Responsibility-Chicago, the North Suburban Peace Initiative (NSPI), and the Nuclear Energy Information Service (NEIS) for their active engagement and partnership in planning this conference. In particular, we appreciate the time, support, and expertise that Dave Kraft at NEIS, Corey Conn at NEIS, Michael Mariotte at NIRS, Mary Buntin at NSPI, and Andy Kanter at PSR-Chicago gave to making this conference a success. On behalf of the Nuclear Policy Research Institute, the Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS), Physicians for Social Responsibility-Chicago (PSR), and our co-sponsoring organizations the North Suburban Peace Initiative (NSPI) and the Nuclear Energy Information Service (NEIS), we extend a hearty thank you to all of our speakers for lending their expertise and time to the symposium. Thank you to W.W. Norton for their generous donation of copies of Nuclear Madness and to Peace Coffee for their donation of coffee. We also extend our gratitude to St. Scholastica Academy and Misericordia and the staff at both places for hosting these events. Finally, we'd like to thank Emerald Young, Amanda McBroom, Roe Anne White Photography, Steffan DeClue, CANTV, and all of the volunteers who shared with us their time and special gifts to make this event a success. This conference wouldn't be possible without you either! Thank you for joining us at this important conference. We hope you all enjoy the conference and take what you learn to educate others about the dangers of nuclear power. With respect, Helen Caldicott, M.D. NPRI President Julie R. Enszer NPRI Executive Director
