l. INTRODUCTION. As a part of the investigations on the suitability of the Danish salt domes for storage of radioactive waste, 2 deep wells near Erslev were drilled into the Mars salt dome. In a previous report on the chemical analysis of salt from the first of the deep wells of Erslev we have given a more complete description of the background and the purpose of the investigations. The procedure for the selection of samples for chemical analysis and the procedure for the chemical analysis used in this work are the same as for the work on Erslev No. 1. Salt. In the present work the percentages of minerals based on the results of the chemical analyses have been calculated according to the procedure described in the above- mentioned report. A comparison of the results of the chemical analyses from the laboratories of Qvist, Risø and DGU has been made by means of histogram plots of relative deviation, as described in the report on chemical analysis of Erslev No. 1. Salt. 2. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. 313 samples of salt from Erslev No. 2 have been analysed by the laboratory of Qvist. (Appendix 2). The laboratory of Risf has analysed 36 of these samples, and the results are compared with those Qvist in table No. 1. In table No. 2 the results obtained for 31 samples by the laboratories of Qvist and DGU are compared. 8 samples have been analysed by all three laboratories, and the results are compared in table No. 3. The distribution of relative deviations for the chloride and the sodium analyses is shown in figure No. 1 (OGU-Qvist) and in figure No. 6 (Risø-Qvist). The deviation of the results of the chloride analyses is less than +/- 21 for more than 951 of the samples.
