From the publication:
1. Introduction This paper provides a brief analysis of a range of threats to the marine environment, fisheries interests and coastal communities arising from nuclear activities. It reviews the current provisions for liability and compensation in the event of damage caused by nuclear incidents and identifies important weaknesses in the existing international regime. It identifies a number of revisions of this regime which are needed in order to strengthen liability for nuclear damage and improve compensation for victims. These could be realised in the short-term as a revision process is already underway and due to be finished in 1995.
