| Beschrijving | European energy policy is on the brink of disaster. The European Commission published on January 23 rd a policy package on energy and climate that has been heavily influenced by the UK government and by the nuclear and fossil-fuel industries, as well as by large power utilities. Not so coincidentally, the UK government announced on January 10th its intention to inject political leverage and public money into the moribund nuclear sector, enabling it to build a new generation of reactors. Both moves are part of a coherent and well-designed strategy to ensure the continuous centralisation of the energy system, and of the political and economic power associated with it |
