Introduction

The United Kingdom is now able to offer to overseas purchasersa wide range of 
plant, equipment and materials in the field of nuclear energy. In response to many 
overseas enquiries, this booklet has been prepared by the United Kingdom Atomic 
Energy Authority as a guide to buyers interested in :

(a) nuclear power reactors;
(b) research reactors;
(c) nuclear fuel;
(d) radioisotopes and stable isotopes;
(e) nucleonic instruments and equipment.

The booklet describes the goods and services which can be provided by British 
industry and by the Atomic Energy Authority. It contains, in addition, background 
material concerning, for example, the United Kingdom's nuclear power programme, 
which may be of value to overseas firms and authorities in assessing the contribution 
which can be made by nuclear energy in the circumstances of their own countries.

Preface to second edition

This booklet has been revised and brought up to date. Details are included in this 
edition of the wide range of chemical process plants, associated with the production 
and uses of nuclear power, which are now obtainable from British industry. Related 
chemical engineering design and consultancy services are offered to suit individual 
purchaser's requirements. Three new research reactors marketed by British firms are 
described. Universities and Technical Colleges at which courses in nuclear science 
are available are listed, and details are given of some major changes in the 
Authority's organisation.
