Applications have been submitted to the Swedish Government for fuelling licences for two nuclear power reactors, Forsmark 3 and Oskarshamn III. The applications refer to a study, called KBS-3, of the handling and final disposal of unreprocessed, spent nuclear fuel. The Ministry of Industry, as a stage in its preparation of the matter, has undertaken a review of the KBS-3 report involving Swedish and foreign organizations. As matters relating to the final storage of radioactive waste are being extensively discussed in many countries, the comments made by the foreign experts concerned are reproduced, unabridged, in the present volume.
