Danish Energy Agency January 1983. ENERGY PLANNING IN DENMARK Introduction As one of the few countries in the world Denmark has introduced systematic planning of its national energy supply. This planning forms the basis for an extensive development with coherent supply systems, employing many different energy technologies. The planning system is designed for active participation of local and regional authorities, energy supply undertakings and the population. Denmark's Energy Supply Structure Throughout the 1950s and 1960s there were no difficulties in importing the necessary quantities of oil and coal. The real prices of these energy resources were on the way down, and at the same time, Denmark - like many other countries - was passing through a period of rapid economic and technological development which resulted in a strongly and steadily increasing demand for energy.
