Who we are The Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM), is the largest umbrella organization of environmental NGOs in the Republic of Korea. As one of the most influential civil organization in the country. KFEM addresses a wide variety of issues, including human rights, social justice, consumer affairs, and woman’s rights, as well as issues on the environment. KFEM is working to find solutions to the and environmental problems in Korea and the world. KFEM has been working to build public awareness on environmental issues, to preserve the Earth’s resources and to achieve environmentally sound and sustainable development. KFEM gained Special Consultative Status from the United Nations Economic and social Council (UNECOSOC) in 1998. Mr. Choi Yul, the Secretary General of KFEM, was awarded the Global 500 Prize from the UNEP in 1994 and the Goldman Environmental Prize in 1995 for his efforts at KFEM.
