INTRODUCTION

This is the fifth edition of Reference Data Series No.2, Nuclear Power Reactors 
in the World, which replaces the Agency's publication Power Reactors in
Member States.
This bulletin contains the following summarized information on nuclear power 
reactors in the world:
- General information as of the end of 1984 on reactors operating or under
construction and such additional information on planned and shutdown 
reactors as is available;
- Performance data on major reactor types operating in the Agency's Member States.

The information is collected by the Agency by circulating questionnaires to the 
Member States through the designated national correspondents. The replies are 
used to maintain computerized files on general and design data of and operating 
experience with reactors.
The Agency's power reactors information system (PAIS) comprising the above files 
provides all the information and data previously published in the Agency's Power 
Reactors in Member States and in its current Operating Experience with Nuclear 
Power Stations in Member States. In addition, the computerized information system 
is capable of producing special data sets on request.
