INTRODUCTION

This is the twelfth edition of Reference Data Series No. 2, Nuclear Power Reactors 
in the World, which is published once per year to present the most recent reactor 
data available to the Agency. It contains the following summarized information:

- General information as of the end of 1991 on power reactors operating or under
construction, and shut down.
- Performance data on reactors operating in the Agency's Member States,
as reported to the Agency.

The information is collected by the Agency by circulating questionnaires to the 
Member States through the designated national correspondents. The replies are 
used to maintain computerized files on general and design data of, and operating 
experience with, power reactors.

Although at the end of 1991 the reactors reported in the former USSR are under the 
Russian Federation, Ukraine and the other independent States, in this edition the 
data on these reactors are named as EX-USSR.

The Agency's Power Reactor Information System (PRIS) comprising the above files 
provides all the information and data previously published in the Agency's Power
Reactors in Member States and currently published in the Agency's Operating 
Experience with Nuclear Power Stations in Member States.
