Uit de publicatie:
Foreword This report, endorsed by Friends of the Earth Europe, CEE-Bankwatch Network and WISE, focuses mainly on the nuclear safety problems of nuclear reactors of Soviet design in the EU accession countries. The issue of nuclear safety in Russia - where the nuclear threat is also caused by the military nuclear sector - is addressed here only in connection to the G8 decision-making process. This document also addresses the case of the K2/R4 reactors in Ukraine, as the funding came both from the EU and the G8. Another special focus is on the Krsko nuclear plant in Slovenia, which is sited only 140 km from Trieste. Although Krsko is not a Soviet designed reactor, there are serious concerns about its safety.
