ARTICLES How current are Euratom provisions on nuclear supply and ownership in view of the European Union's enlargement? by Andre Bouquet* 1. Introduction This contribution is mainly based on two papers presented at nuclear law conferences in 1998 (1) and 2001, (2) respectively setting out the special provisions governing supplies of nuclear fuels to the European Union (Chapter 6 of the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community, hereinafter referred to as the "Euratom Treaty'') and the right of ownership of the Euratom Community (Chapter 8 of the Euratom Treaty). These special Treaty provisions cannot be compared to anything observed in other legal systems. Hence, with their introduction into the legal systems of the new European Union member states, the question arises as to how current these provisions are and how they have been implemented in practice.
