Leakage of Contaminated Water from Two Notch Tanks

On 2 June, 2014, NRA’s resident inspector found that contaminated water was leaking from the bolt portion of the two tanks in 4,000 tons notch tank group in the contaminated water tank area.
The water leakage was stopped by means of lowering the water level of the leaking tank by transferring the stored water of the leaking tanks to another notch tank.
The amount of the water, which leaked to the outside of dike was approximately 3.5m3.
The concentration of radioactive materials in the leaked water was 72 kBq/L (Total Beta)
There has been no contamination of the ocean that raises any concern about influence to health and the environment.
