On 04 April 2026, Iran Nuclear Regulatory Authority was informed by the operator of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP-1) that on 4 April at approximately 08:30 Iran Standard Time (IRST), a projectile struck near the premises of the power plant (very close to the BNPP-1 fence) due to the aerial and missile attacks by the Israel regime and the United States of America. A building on-site has been affected by shockwaves and fragments of projectile .Also one of the BNPP-1 physical protection personnel martyred by a fragment of projectiles. The Bushehr NPP is in operating condition with a large amount of nuclear material and damage to the facility could result in a nuclear disaster. It should be emphasized that such thoughtless actions contravene CHARTER OF THE UNITED NATIONS, The IAEA’s Statute and also the principles of international law. No military action should put at risk safety of NPPs and their operating staff, who must be able to carry out their vital work in safe conditions.
