SAFETY INJECTION DUE TO MAIN STEAM LINE LOW PRESSURE

Yonggwang was operated at rated full power.
During normal operation, abnormal status light of turbine control panel was found. After investigation, abnormal electric circuit was removed and changed to a new one. Unknown noise signal was induced to this process. Abnormal signal (turbineoverspeed pre-trip) arose and made governor valves of high pressure turbine close. Condenser and atmospheric dump valves were opened to decrease steam line pressure. As abnormal signal disappeared 1 minute later, governor valves were reopened and steam pressure of main steam line decreased rapidly. Although main steam line pressure did not reach the setpoint, lead/lag compensation effect made safety injection begin. There was no release of radioactive materials outside the reactor building and no unplanned exposure to employees.
