ERF description: The unit was in the scheduled routine maintenance outage with reactor in cold shutdown. At 13:25 the fire alarm went off indicating "fire in the cable compartment 706" (this compartment is located in the turbine building). Once the fire was confirmed by visual examination, personnel activated the normal gas fire extinguishing system. As a result the fire was isolated and later extinguished by the fire brigade. The fire resulted in partial damage of power and instrumentation cables of the turbine building valves and auxiliary components.
No breach of safe operation limits and conditions occurred. Deterioration of radiation situation and radioactivity releases did not occur.
BASIS FOR RATING: Initiator - fire in the turbine building's cable compartment.
Event - real, expected.
Safety function availability - full.
According to Table A2 the event provisionally has been classified as Level 0.
