RADIOACTIVITY RELEASE OUTSIDE LIQUID RADWASTE STORAGE BOUNDARY

While pumping radioactive water from the Liquid Radwaste Storage (LRWS) tank for recycling, due to personnel errors the flooding of LRWS pumps servicing room occurred followed by radioactive water entry into the safeguard sump under the storage with the total activity of 6 Ci for Cs-137.
After event identification the water from the sump was pumped back into the storage. While the water was in the sump and due to degraded sump leak-tightness small amount of water penetrated into the ground under the LRWS and via a special drain line intended for ground water removal infiltrated to the plant cooling pond (total activity for Cs-137 equal to 6 mCi which is 0.093 of the annual maximum permissible discharge).
