A radioactive sealed source Ir-192, activity ~150 GBq (4 Ci), used by ?NDT Metals Co? was lost on 18.1.2002. This company is specialized on Non Distructive Tests for Metals using Industrial Radiography. This event was happened in the city of Larisa during the testing of high pressure piping for natural gas transportation. Greek Atomic Energy Commission took knowledge of the event on Saturday 19.1.2002 and a press release was made. Also the police was informed about it. A group of experts from the Greek Atomic Energy Commission visited Larisa on Saturday 26.1.2002. The area arround the place where the radioactive source has been seen for the last time was investigated. The source was found inside its radiological equipment container at a distance of about 400 m from that point, covered with rubbles. Nobody was reported injured. The radiactive source has been transfered and kept in safe place in Athens. A final Press Release was issued by the GAEC.
