REACTOR TRIP DUE TO ACTUATION OF MAIN GENERATOR PROTECTION RELAY

The plant was under full power operation. At 10:25 on November 27, 1995 the phase "A" cable of current converter for main generator protection relay was disconnected. Turbine generator was tripped by the protection relay and then reactor trip was followed consequently by F-7 signal. The investigation revealed that the cause of cable disconnection was overheating at connecting point. The cable was not able to endure the slight over-current because it did not have sufficient margin.
There was no radiation leakage in the plant and no exposure to the plant employees.
