1. PREFACE ECN's research results are published in a number of report series, each series serving a different public, from contractors to the international scientific world. This report presents an overview of ECN publications published in 1996: ECN publishes the following report series: • Undefined: for results and information that can't be classified in the other series; • ECN-C- publications: Contract reports containing the results of contract research; • ECN-I- publications: Internal reports containing results for fellow colleagues, principally within ECN but also for those employed elsewhere; although reports in this series may not be in their definite form, they are not confidential and may be referred to; • ECN-P- publications: Reports are written primarily for the non-specialist reader and cover subjects which are expected to be of general interest; • ECN-R- publications: Research reports on the ECN research results available to the international technical and scientific world; • ECN-RX- publications: Used for publishing preprints of articles that will be or have been published in a journal, or in conference or symposium proceedings; • ECN-B- publications: Leaflets.
