GENERAL WASTE Non Plutonium Contaminated General Waste Intermediate Level Waste is one of the categories of solid waste segregated at Dounreay. It consists mainly of rubber gloves, paper and small laboratory items which are plutonium contaminated (Cat. 3 above). It is transported, in closed plastic containers, to the storage building where it is transferred to 200 litre drums for interim storage. The facility can hold up to 6000 drums.
