Why this fingerbook?

This book has been created as a basic introduction to nuclear power issues in 
Eastern Europe. It gives some information about most plants in the region, gives 
additional information sources, and lists contacts of groups working to phase out 
operating plants or halt construction of unfinished reactors.
Inside of this tiny format, we have tried to make this fingerbook as useful as possible.
In every case, we give the key arguments being used by activists and analysts in the 
region against the given plant to try to change policy. We often give basics of the 
plant's history. For every plant, we also list alternatives to nuclear power which 
would be both cheaper and safer as established by some independent group (usually 
the World Bank. or national energy expert - not an environmental group).
For every plant we give at least one group which is working on it locally or 
nationally. These groups are all looking for international allies, but you do them no 
service by contacting them, asking them to send you everything and then reading it 
and putting it in your library. There is a list of suggestions of what you can usefully 
do on the inside back cover.
