Uit de publicatie:
WHAT IS RADIOACTIVITY? Our world is full of radiation. Everything in it - plants, animals, mankind and the earth's surface - is subject to radiation all the time. Most of this radiation is natural and comes from outer space, rocks and soil, substances within our bodies and from food. The rest, is man-made radiation and most of this is derived from medical uses such as X-rays. A small proportion of total radiation, about one thousandth, is due to nuclear power. This booklet sets out some of the ways in which radiation is put to use.
