METALLURGICAL DEFECTS ON THE MAIN STEAM LINES OF A REACTOR

The inspections carried out last July during the maintenance and refueling shutdown of the reactor revealed more than 200 metallurgical defects, not complying with the construciton rules, on the main steam pipes of the secondary system of the installation.
The defects are in a component whose failure could have led to an initiator (see III-2-8-b). As a rupture of the steam pipe should be of low probability, the event (see Table II) is classified at level 2.
