On 9 March 2000, the Tandem Consultants company reported the loss of a promethium-147 radioactive source. This source was to have been installed on a new model of a measuring gauge for the paper industry that was to be assessed with a view to obtaining a marketing licence. Tandem Consultants is licensed to provide artificial radionuclide sources. The characteristics of the source are as follows: Manufacturer: Nycomed Amersham, REA: 147Pm, Activity 18,5 GBq (group 3 radiotoxicity). The source was dispatched from Finland and was lost at the premises of the Danzas company at Illzach (Haut-Rhin) on 2 March 2000. Following an unsuccessful search in which this company approached its other agencies and its clients, the company reported the loss to the police.
